C is for.....

This is me... aahhhh...what a life!

Bill..........

Charlie..........
Birdy..........
Bud.......
Smokey........

and.....Hannah!

All five these cats are cats of a chess player, he lives in Florida(USA)...(there is a Florida in Johannesburg, SA too....only difference...Florida in Jo'burg is just a suburb and not a state!)This is what he says about his felines...- and they just turned up at his house....and he was kind enough to home them and to care for them.....- "Charlie likes to catch popcorn in the air. He is quite animated! Bud, who I think used to be a prize fighter, has mellowed a lot. He likes to cuddle with Bill or me. Bill, the ambassador, gets along with everybody. He has had cancer surgery and is living on borrowed time...and we appreciate every day we have him. Smokey was an abused Main Coon cat who was severely under weight. He keeps to himself as I think he would rather be outdoors hunting wildlife! Birdy was a stray who having been fed by me for several months finally accepted me and became a member of the family. His eye was injured while he was a stray and could not be saved...but he seems to get along quite well with the one. Hannah is the only outside feline in the family. She prefers to not be around other cats. She is tiny but very street smart. She has feline aids and asthma, but appears to being doing ok. In the evenings she stays in a separate building that has creature comforts including heat and air."
Very sweet of him! Wish more people would do that with pets!

Nicky

This is what Nicky looked like......she was a cat found at the nursery....It was a rainy day in Centurion...I wanted to get some plants for a big clay pot in my class...I walked into the nursery...and heard a cat meowing....I looked around...but saw nothing...there were tons of shelves, covered in hessian, with stuff on display....I starting looking under the hessian, near where I heard the cat...and there she was, still very young.....with a plate of milk....I couldn't resist stroking her and picked her up immediately....asking the man helping people with a wheelbarrow, who's it was..."Nobody's, " he replied..."Oh, my I have her!" I asked very excitedly...."Sure...I only fed her, because she came here, hungry....and nobody to look after her..." That day was my lucky day! I locked her in my car and ran back to get the plants...very excited. I got back to the car and there, very pleased with herself, she was waiting on the back seat...paws curled up infront of her, looking me very thankfully in the eyes through the window...when I got into the car, it was only a loud purrrr-purrrr...I could hear...

Nicky loved water! It was funny....I found her on a rainy day....and she loved water so much, she liked it if you poured it all over her...she will then look over her shoulder and just say..."purr-meow"...as she was asking for more...LOL!!

She was friends, big friends, with Lompie...the blue lilacpoint siamese! They were like kids...chasing one another and just being silly most of the times, making me laughing when they were like that!

Cat in the window

What do you see?
Cloud, wind, birds,a bird in a tree.

The daffodils shiveringin the February breeze,
A puddle in the roadbeginning to freeze.

Snow on the wind
Dusk in a cloud.
Leaves in a frenzy,
The bird's head cowed.
Winter - though the sun shines.
Blizzard, and the north wind's whine.

Guinea Pigs.... friends!

I forgot to say....that Paint kept on bullying Penny...and so we've decided to get another little one to "force" Paint to get along with Penny! So....here you can see them all....
Paint....posing for her picture...a bit curious..."..and where's the yummy?"

...not sure..."shall I go down or am I safe!"....then she decided that she's still safe...

and..."WHO's there! Knock a bit harder and speak up...can't here you!"

Threesome...better than being lonely!

Penny! Your turn!

And...the well-mannered Paint...letting Sannie out...for her to come and pose!

"Wow! I think I should run for my life! What are these people up to!"

"Still can't hear you!"

Guinea pig and diet

I'm on a diet! I have to lose weight! I think I put on about 10 kg during holiday! I don't want to get on the scale, it will surely break! I ate today: 1 pear, 1 banana, about 300 ml yogurt, about 8 glasses of water so far.....2 small muffins, baked with wholewheat....only with butter...NOT with honey too....the honey was put in the dough mixture....a small portion of fish....forel....and some greens....and I need to hoover the rest of the house tonight....for that little bit of exercise! haha....

We got another guinea pig.....a little baby, Penny. Now, Paint likes her....but at the moment she needs to get used to Penny. They are both female, so the chances for babies are zero....luckily!

I spent a lot of time on Brunel's site.....I need to spend more time there to go through all of those resources.

I got a site from one of the "in-laws" last week....Torrents...but there's another site to access first and then you find the Torrents link on it....to download applications.....

School

This is Annette, Head of Department of the Junior Phase. She's a very caring person, will stretch herself to lengths to have something to eat for everybody for any reason! Always busy organising food-stuff for any simple occasion! Here, I caught her red handed with the scones! I arrived a bit earlier than I said....she's teaching grade 3's and I used to be her colleague teaching the other grade 3-class.
The staff room.....notice board .....and on the next photo, the table with cups ready...playtime is in a minute or two if the table looks like this! Always so neatly and tidy.....as I'm used to it.

And on this pic....Annette's grade 3's! They were busy writing a poem and were so quiet, concentrating on their work!

Children's work on display....and some still thinking what they want to write....

And the lovely people I used to teach with!!

Hmm......scones with strawberries and cream!! Yummy!!! Very different from when you get snacks in a UK staff room.....

On the next two photos, Rolo, my sister's dog, is trying to have a nap! He's still a pup of about 3 months.

Zandie

This is our doggie - Zandie - we rescued her after her owners wanted to put her down for nothing. Click HERE to view her blog and to look at photos of her, videos and the area where we live. On this photo it was her first day - in the first hour - with us. She was hungry and snapped at us all the time whilst having her food.

Jock of the Bushveld

Jock - a bull-terrier - was born in the present day Kruger National Park near the Pretorius Kop Camp. He was the runt of the litter and the young Fitzpatrick saved him from certain death by adopting him as a pup.
Percy Fitzpatrick became a transport rider - carting supplies for the goldfields at Pilgrim's Rest and Barberton from Delagoa Bay (now Maputo) in Lourenco Marques (now Mozambique).
Jock grew up to be a faithful and obedient companion, as well as a champion fighter and hunter. Jock accompanied Fitzpatrick on his journeys through the KNP, as well as through the towns of Sabie, Graskop, Pilgrim's Rest, Barberton and Lydenburg. (Lydenburg is the town where I grew up..well, on the farm about 20km outside the town...)
