This statue by the State Theatre, in Pretoria, is slowly spinning around and at night, there's a spotlight and you can clearly see the two ballerinas turning...amazing...just a pity that theatre lovers can't enjoy art by night like before...due to obvious reasons...

Save the Springbok!

In South Africa the new government want to get rid of the Springbok and to replace it with "something else"...what a SHAME! It is part of our history....how can you change a country's history! The Springbok should STAY! Our Rugby team won't be anymore the "Springboks" if they are not a Springbok.....if you look at that animal, you see pride! courage, speed, all you need in a sport! They will probably change it to......(let me leave it for you to think what i think!)

Athletics in SA schools

Athletics always takes place in the first term of the new school year...which is January-March. In Primary as well as Secondary schools, all children take part...even if they are not an athlete. We have teams and children who are less athletic, got to put in e.g. team C or D....as long as they get the opportunity to take part. And....they love it. I really do miss athletics in the UK schools. Schools here have ONE day --- some of them--- which they call a "sports" day...but...I won't comment at all what's happening on that day... I won't call it a sports day to start with.... Sorry if anyone feels offended, but this is the truth....a sports day is not something you organise in a few minutes.... and I think "health and safety" is really a BIG pain in this country. Children miss out on so much fun in schools because of that. Not that we are not taking children's health and safety into account in our schools in South Africa.
This video has brought back some really GOOD memories about our schools and when watching it...I really had to force myself not to start crying!!

Table Mountain cable car

To go up Table Mountain is really an experience! Very exciting and amazing views...but at one point...in that cable car, it's a bit scary...more than scary....you come so close to the mountain! But, it's worth going, the scenery is awesome! Any person going to Cape Town and not going up the mountain, hasn't been to Cape Town! You have to have the "mountain experience" before you can say you've been to Cape Town!
